Me Flower, Self-Esteem Activity for Kids.

Me Flower Self-Esteem Character Building Craft Project for Kids

Creating a “Me Flower” is a fun self-esteem activity for kids and teens. In this activity, children create a flower representing positive things about themselves.

This great project can be displayed in a classroom, the wall of your child’s room, or anywhere in the home to remind kids and teens how special they are.

Creating a Me Flower

Start by giving each child one piece of heavy-weight white construction paper. I personally like using the Astrobirghts paper available on Amazon. It is a nice white and has the perfect amount of brightness for this project.

Once the children receive their paper, have them draw a flower stem in the middle of the page. A simple straight line down the middle of the page would do. Children can also decorate the background if they like.

Once the children are finished drawing their stems, you can hand them cut-out pedals from construction paper. They can use one color or multiple colors. If working with younger children or children who may need assistance, you can make petal tracers.

On the flower pedals, have children write something they like about themselves. We used Sharpies when making our “Me Flowers,” but you can use any permanent marker. You can use black or multiple colors.

The final step is to glue the flower petals around the flower stem.

Sharing your Me Flower

Whether you’re engaging in this activity at home, in the classroom, or as part of a recreational program, it’s a wonderful opportunity to encourage kids to share their creative efforts. Inviting children to share what they have written can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

You may discover that some kids are eager and excited to share and other kids are more reserved and hesitant. It’s also important to create a safe and encouraging space for these children. Gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement can help build their confidence over time. Remember, the goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and valued, regardless of their level of eagerness to participate.
