This I love you because…cute classroom Valentine’s Day is perfect for elementary school students. Even preschoolers and Kindergarteners can make one with teacher assistance. Follow the step-by-step directions below to make an I Love You Because…Valentine’s Day Jar.
Materials: Construction paper, scissors, markers, plastic jar with lid, tissue paper, ribbon, paint markers
Step 1: Cut out about 5 hearts from different color construction paper. These will represent conversation hearts.
Step 2: Give each child a plastic jar with a lid, hearts, and some markers
Step 3: Have the child write on the plastic jar I love you because… They can also decorate the lid of the jar.
Step 4: Have the children write on each heart a reason why they love their mom, dad, or loved one. If working with younger children just ask them what they want to write and write it for them.
Step 5: Fill the jar with the hearts. You can also add a couple of pieces of candy if you would like.
Step 6: Close the jar and wrap it in tissue paper and tie it with a ribbon. Give the jar to the child to take home to their loved one.
