This is a fun activity for kids. They will get to create their own chocolate leaves. Chocolate leaves make great decretive pieces for desserts. You can add them to cupcakes, cakes, ice cream and more
Materials: 1 cup Melting chocolate or chocolate chips to melt, clean paintbrush, small leaves ( rose leaves work well)
Step 1: Have children pick leaves and wash them gently in the sink. Let cleaned leaves dry
Step 2: Melt the chocolate. You can use a double broiler . If you do not have one you can take a saucepan and fill the bottom with water and place it on the stove burner. In another saucepan add chocolate and put in on top of the first saucepan and stir chocolate constantly. Be careful that e that the water does not get mixed into the bowl with the chocolate also be sure that it doesn’t get too hot or your chocolate will burn.
Step 3: Place melted chocolate in a bowl so the children can use it.
Step 4: Have children dip paintbrush in chocolate and gently paint a thin layer of chocolate over the top side of the leaf (the lines of the leaf should show through the chocolate)
Step 5: Place chocolate covered leaves on a plate and place in the freezer for 10 minutes
Step 6: Take leaves out of the freezer and gently peel away the real leaves. You’ll be left with chocolate leaves
Kids play and create tip:
