How to Make a Paper Plate Angel Christmas Craft for Kids

 This paper plate Christmas  angel craft is a great project for young children.  They are simple and fast to make and fun to decorate.  This angel makes a great tree topper for a small Christmas tree, a nice center piece for a table or  you can even add string to the top to make a nice hanging decoration.  Follow the simple steps below to make your own paper plate Christmas Angel.

Christmas Angel Craft

Materials: paper plate, scissors, stapler, pencil, things to decorate such as crayons, markers, paint, craft gems, pipe cleaner, googly eyes

Step 1: The first thing you are going to do to design make your angel is to draw a line 3/4 of the way down from the top of the paper plate on each side.  Make sure you leave about 2 inches of space between the lines. Then draw a half a circle (to make head) above your lines.  See picture below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2:  Starting from the bottom of the half circle, draw a line curving up to the top of the paper plate.  Repeat this step to the other side.  This will be the start of the angel’s wings.  See picture below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Cut along the lines of the half circle and the lines going up to the top of the plate as shown in the picture below.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Step 4:  To make the body of your angel, cut across the first lines you drew on the plate.  Make sure you don’t cut all the way through the middle of the plate.  Pull the middle lines you cut toward the back of the paper plate and staple.  This will form the body of your angel

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Step 5:  Now for the fun part, the decorating.    You can hot glue a pipe cleaner or yarn to make hair, use markers or googly eyes to make a face and use paints and craft gems to design body.  Have fun!
