How to Make Valentine’s Day Bath Fizzies for Kids

This is a great activity for kids to make and use.  They can also wrap them up with cellophane or in a nice decorative box and give as gifts for Valentine’s Day.

Materials: 2 1/2 tablespoons of canola oil, 1 tablespoon of water, 2 teaspoons of essential oils, 6-8 drops of pink or red food coloring, 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid*, 1/2 cup of cornstarch, heat shaped silicone mold
* citric acid can be found at pharmacies, health food stores, sometimes Walmart, Ace Hardware Stores
Step 1: Add the canola oil, water, food coloring, essential oils to a glass bowl. Mix well
Step 2: Add baking soda and citric acid to another bowl.  Mix well, if it is not mixed well your bath fizzies will be grainy.
Step 3: Pour the canola oil mixture over the baking soda mixture mix well. It should stick together when smooshed down. If it seems to dry add 1/2 teaspoon of water.
Step 4: Add mixture to the heart shaped mold. Press it down lightly and fill to the top of the mold.  Smooth the top with a spatula.
Step 5: Let dry in the molds for 3 days before removing.  To use place one bath fizzy under running bath water.
